![]() If they're not clacking, I'd leave them alone. In this way, how do you fix a loose rocker arm? Even with them all lashed down, you can move the ones on the base circle of the cam slightly side to side(valve fully closed). I've tried the recommended 1 full turn, 3/4 turn, etc, 1/2 turn for most performance engines seems to be the best method. Likewise, how tight should rocker arms be? The lash should be set to Zero plus a 1/2 turn. You should have compared the tips where they hold the valve and push rod to see if they are mashed out. The stock style rockers really should not just get loose. In respect to this, are rocker arms supposed to be loose? The most likely cause for the loose rocker arm bolts in your engine is either inadequate tightening originally, or an effort to adjust the rocker arms at some point in the engine's life. The valve lifters are hydraulic, so no adjustment beyond this tightening specification is necessary. ![]()
